Most construction-law content online is written for the person bringing the claim. This site is written for the person defending one, or trying to get paid. It covers four areas where California contractors carry real exposure: CSLB discipline and licensing, payment and lien disputes, construction defect liability, and the real estate transactions where work performed years earlier comes back under scrutiny.
Every guide is written from the controlling code section rather than around it. Where a case governs, the case is named and cited so you can read it yourself. Where no published California case squarely covers a fact pattern, the guides say so instead of implying one exists.
